Scarlett, the Tamworth pig

Jenny's Hobby Farm

Jenny set up a hobby farm in the Canadian West Coast Rain Forest, clearing the land with pigs and raising ready-to-lay hens to sell. The books and articles on this web site represent knowledge which she has accumulated during this time.

Jenny's Patio Garden throughout the year

I have been experimenting using heirloom and wild flowers in among my vegetables to attract beneficial insects, which then attack the pests of my vegetables. The videos below show my progress throughout the year.

I researched the pests of each vegetable family, then found which beneficial insects target each pest, and then found which flowers attract each beneficial insect.

Last year, I only had 2 attacks of black flies, one on my broad beans, and the other on some marguerites. Both infestations were completely wiped out within 2 weeks by beneficial insects

I have compiled the results of my research into a book called "Working with nature to grow almost pest-free, organic vegetables" and am currently looking for a publisher to publish it.
